Who came up with the design?

With Community feedback many discussions between community leaders, organizations, city and state staff, artists and arts organizations, local businesses and residents.

Who is the artist?

The design, images, and people started with the amazing mind and talent of Christopher Kinney aka Sake.  Now the team of Karl and Melody have taken the baton and are bringing the mural to completion.

What organizations worked together to make the mural happen?

City Heights residents, The City of San Diego (Parks and Recreation, Economic Development, Council District 9), San Diego Cultural Arts Alliance, neighborhood associations (namely Teralta West and Corridor), City Heights Town Council

Who is the San Diego Cultural Arts Alliance? 

A Non profit arts organization that specializes in murals and arts programs for youth.

Who is the City Heights Town Council?

A Non Profit Organization based around community representation, community leadership, and collaboration.  It is an all volunteer organization working with anyone and everyone in City Heights for the betterment of City Heights.

Why at Teralta Park?

It is an under-utilized park with loads of potential for community activation and events.  And it is a unique park being that it is over a freeway, currently the only one in the state of California (as of 2021).  The park is walkable for many residents in City Heights, a convenient location that connects neighborhoods together.

What is the City Heights Fest?

A City Heights wide community festival to showcase our cultural diversity and celebrate us.  Inaugural event planned for Summer 2022
